P-CCS Auto Tech Program Accelerates Opportunities with Ford Partnership

Dear P-CCS Families,

We were on TV recently – thanks to P-CCS’ exciting auto tech program and the terrific students who drive it. On April 30, the district hosted an auto show with some amazing community partners: Ford Motor Company, Blackwell Ford, Inc. of Plymouth and Bill Brown Ford of Livonia, as well as Washtenaw Community College and Michigan-CAT.

Students and staff got up close with Ford vehicles ranging from a 100-year-old Model T that students restored, to our cutting-edge student-built EV to a stunning Ford GT, which tops out at 220 mph (not on campus, of course). Blackwell Ford and Brown Ford generously donated two Mustangs and a Bronco Raptor for students in the auto tech program to work on and learn with.

During the event, auto tech students also met with Ford employees, who shared valuable information about pathways to a career at Ford, working at local dealerships right out of high school, and how to get the appropriate certifications and training. Ford has many positions to fill and is eager to hire auto technicians and mechanics. These are jobs with great starting wages and benefits.  It is also widely known that experienced auto technicians can make six-figure salaries.

P-CCS is proud to help provide the workforce Ford needs to compete and succeed, like 2022 graduate Zachary Cioroch, who in turn is now mentoring two current P-CCS high school students. These are the workers of the future, doing what they love and earning good money right out of high school.

We are so grateful to our community partners who have helped us build one of the best and most forward-looking high school auto tech programs in Michigan. Their support is helping countless students get on a path to good jobs and great careers.  We also want to thank our outstanding auto CTE/teachers (Jerry Lickey, Chad Woodring and Mike Frantsen) for the part they played in making this event so successful.
