Stefanie Hayes is P-CCS’ New Executive Director of Special Education

Stefanie Hayes is an experienced educator who has advocated for and supported students with disabilities for more than 20 years.  She has spent almost her entire career serving school districts in Michigan as a leader in the special education area.  She is bringing all that knowledge and skill to the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools as the district's new Executive Director of Special Education.

Hayes’ journey in education began in the Lincoln Park Public Schools where she served as a Behavioral Specialist before becoming the Special Services ASD Program Supervisor.  In 2008, she was named Principal of Lincoln Park’s Mixter Elementary School, a position she held for two years.  Hayes then re-entered the special education arena when she accepted a position as the Autism Spectrum Disorder Program Supervisor for Birmingham Public Schools.  For the past 11 years she has served as the Director of Student Services at both the Grosse Pointe Public Schools and Ferndale Public Schools.

Her impressive work experience is complemented by an outstanding academic resume, which includes several certifications.  She earned both her Bachelor’s (Psychology) and Master’s degrees (Special Education EL) from the University of Detroit Mercy.  She also holds an Educational Specialist degree in General Administration and Supervision from Wayne State University.  Hayes has State of Michigan certificates in School Administration, Special Education and Psychology.
