Mission Statement
The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Clothing Bank provides FREE clothing to families demonstrating financial need. Our goal is to provide the needy children in our school district with clothing that is similar to the apparel of their peers at school.
The P-CCS Clothing Bank has served the community since 1976. It was started by school board member, Flossie Tonda, and administered by the Plymouth Community PTO Council. It is now managed by volunteers with support through the the Education Excellence Foundation and tax deductible donations by community members.
Who is eligible to receive clothing?
Families and individuals in the community demonstrating financial need are eligible for free clothing.
Students and families can be referred by any school staff member. Members of the community can be referred by a local agency such as the Salvation Army, United Way, a church or other agencies that deal with human welfare services. Clients with referrals must make an appointment by calling the Clothing Bank telephone number (734) 416-6179. They do not take drop-in clients.
DONATIONS
The Clothing Bank accepts donations of gently-used clothing for all ages. Clothing should be clean and in current fashion. They also accept NEW socks and undergarments. Clothing and monetary donations are tax deductible, receipts are available.
What to Donate
The Clothing Bank accepts all clothing but has a particular need for blue jeans, sneakers, coats, children’s boots, adult size socks and extra large size adult clothing. Make sure the items are clean and in good shape. Ask yourself, “Would I wear this?” Package them in bags or boxes and drop them off during regular hours of operation. Note: They do not accept sports uniforms, sports shoes or equipment.
Community groups that wish to have a clothing drive should call for a list of items that are currently needed.
Monetary donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated. Please make a check payable to “Educational Excellence Foundation” and write “Clothing Bank” in the memo line. Donations should be sent to:
