Mental Health and Wellness

Welcome to our Mental Health and Wellness resource page designed specifically for K-12 students and parents..  At Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, we understand that taking care of your mental and emotional well-being is just as important as your academic success. This page aims to provide you with valuable information, tools, and resources to help you navigate the ups and downs of life, build resilience, and foster a positive mindset.

WHERE CAN I FIND HELP?

During times of intensive stress, it's important to know how to seek assistance, guidance, or just a helping hand. Our mental health professionals

(School Psychologists, Social Workers, and Counselors) are located in each of the district’s school buildings.  Also, the district has partnered with Ulliance - Mental Health Services, which adds additional services for our school community. In addition to many mental health agencies in the surrounding area (See list at bottom of page).

Why Does Student Mental Health Matter?

Prioritizing mental health among students carries profound significance. Strengthening their mental well-being not only enhances their capacity to learn, and be more likely to realize the full potential of their abilities. The mental health of students within the school setting is an important part of the education system.  Beyond the classroom, positive mental health empowers students to build connections with greater efficacy, make informed decisions and choices, and work collaboratively. These positive effects support the individual student, and their community,  setting a resilient foundation for their journey into adulthood.

When we are feeling anxious or stressed this is an activity you can do you feel calm:

The Why:

Our senses act as a gateway to the here and now, giving students a great chance to connect with the world. This method helps you to really dive into your senses—seeing, touching, hearing, smelling, and tasting. It's a seriously awesome trick that doesn't just help grown-ups but also gives you a way to find your calm when things get stressful.

Mindfulness Activity that distracts the brain:

Invite you to name:

  1. 5 things they can see
  2. 4 things they can touch
  3. 3 things they can hear
  4. 2 things they can smell
  5. 1 thing they can taste
