About Eriksson

Ruth Eriksson Elementary School, a school within the Plymouth-Canton Community School District, typically serves approximately 450 students, Preschool through 5th grade. Our school population is uniquely enriched by the significant diversity of its students, staff, and families. Eriksson School is accredited by the Michigan State Department of Education.

Eriksson Elementary School follows the core curriculum standards and benchmarks established by the State of Michigan for elementary school students. The school offers a wide variety of special programs and services for students taught by a talented staff, meeting all teacher certification standards of the State of Michigan. Special programs and services include Literacy Interventionists, Resource Room teachers for special education students, speech support, an English Language Learners program, a School Psychologist, School Social Worker, and a Counselor.

Eriksson has a technology-rich learning environment. In addition to Smartboard technology in every classroom, each student has his or her own device to support their learning throughout the day.  Children in kindergarten and first-grade access iPads to engage in activities that support their understanding of the curriculum.  Students in grades 2 through 5 utilize Chromebooks to enhance learning and demonstrate their understanding of new material.  The combination of bond-funded technology, staff training, parent volunteers and resources purchased from fundraising activities, directly impacts student learning.

School Policies

Please keep the office updated as to new home phone numbers, cell phone numbers, work numbers, etc. We are aware that sometimes daycare arrangements change, as well as emergency contact; therefore, it is important to make changes and or additions to the emergency cards as they occur. Stop in, call the office, or send in a note to keep the information current.

Eriksson is a "Bully Free Zone". No Bullies Allowed.  The following presentation defines bullies, the 3 types of bullying behavior, and how to "de-bug" the system.  Also, the 7 steps of Eriksson's range of discipline for bullying behavior.
